Analysis of Offset Voltage, Noise and Common Mode Performance of NMOS Differential Amplifier

NMOS differential amplifier

The NMOS differential amplifier is shown in Figure 2.5-7. The enhanced N-channel MOS transistors M1 and M4 are used as the equivalent load of the amplifier. It is easy to prove that the voltage gain Av of this circuit is expressed as

NMOS差分放大器

NMOS差分放大器

Where Vss is the substrate voltage of M3 and M4.

To increase the gain of NMOS differential amplifiers, depletion-type devices can be used for M3 and M4, but the voltage gain of NMOS differential amplifiers is much lower than that of CMOS differential amplifiers, so CMOS differential amplifiers are generally used.

The analysis of the offset voltage, noise and common mode performance of the NMOS differential amplifier is similar to that of the CMOS differential amplifier, so I will not repeat it here.
