In MOS (NMOS and CMOS) operational amplifiers or other analog circuits, common source MOS amplifiers with active loads are the most commonly used. There are four commonly used circuit forms, as shown in Figure 2.4-1a~d.
(1) The circuit in Figure 2.4-1a is called a fully enhanced NMOS single-stage amplifier. The enhanced n-channel MOS tube M2 in the figure serves as an active load of the enhanced n-channel MOS tube M1.
(2) Figure 2.4-1b is called an enhanced-depletion type NMOS single-stage amplifier. The depletion type n-channel MOS transistor M2 in the figure serves as an active load of the enhancement type n-channel MOS transistor M2.
(3) Figure 2.4-1c is a CMOS single-stage amplifier with a high voltage gain (100~1000). It is the main amplifying unit in the CMOS operational amplifier. In the figure, the P-channel MOS tube M2 is the n-channel MOS tube M1. Source load.
(4) Figure 2.4-1d is also a CMOS single-stage amplifier, which is a push-pull inverting amplifier, and its gain performance is the same as that of Figure 2.4-1c CMOS amplifier.
The amplification performance of the above-mentioned four circuits is now discussed.
